Founded in 2008, the evaluation service at the Institute conducts rapid and robust service evaluations for health and social care clients nationally. We have experience and expertise in a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies including:
The evaluation service is currently carrying out a number of evaluations within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and also for other NHS trusts locally and nationally as well as third sector voluntary organisations. In addition to this the team provide support for research bids as well as writing and submitting their own research bids.

An evaluation function is provided by academics and researchers working in evaluation, within the Institute. Dr Louise Thomson is a Senior Research Fellow and Head of Research Support and Evaluation at IMH. Her previous positions include working for CLAHRC-NDL, Loughborough University, and the Institute of Employment Studies. Louise has both qualitative and quantitative research and evaluation experience. Louise is supported by Sarah Hadfield, Research Support Officer. Sarah has previously worked in academic research at a HEI. Her degree and post-graduate degree are in social science.

The aim is to provide a free source of advice and support for staff in the Trust who are engaged in research and evaluation activities. Our aim is to equip services with the skills and capacity to conduct evaluation. Therefore we also offer training and advice services.
