IMH Blog: call for editors
17 Jan 2014
The IMH Blog - www.imhblog.wordpress.com
- is looking to recruit new members for its editorial team. Two new editors are needed to replace departing members to add to the existing team of three. The current team is Melanie Jordan, Amanda Keeling and Debbie Butler. The Blog has been running since February 2012 and has acquired a steady and healthy weekly following. Working on an editorial team for an online academic blog is great for the CV. This role takes only half an hour or less of time per week. The remit of the IMH Blog is relatively broad, as it aims to represent the interests of the IMH and its members so posts on any aspect of mental health/illness, integrated healthcare, health research, or health and well-being more generally are welcomed. Post authors are primarily IMH members, both staff and student, plus re-posts from third sector mental health organisations and national writers in the field.
There are three editorial roles:
1. Blog updates
The primary role of the editors is to update the blog with new posts, including formatting and preparing them for upload on Wordpress. The blog is updated weekly on a Monday. For those unfamiliar with Wordpress, we will provide training.
2. Recruiting contributors
Many of our posts are volunteered, but promotion of the blog and encouragement to individuals to write posts is also necessary to maintain the flow of posts and variety of topics. Further, there may be weeks where we do not have any original content to post. The role of the editor in this instance is to find that content – either by writing something personally or sourcing an appropriate post on another blog which can be re-posted.
The editors moderate the copy for the blog. There are occasions where some content needs to be reviewed and then edited in collaboration with authors.
