 logy (NTNU)\, Trondheim\, Norway\nTopic: 'Using creative technologies for 
 dementia care: Experiences and findings from an international PhD project'

 ams.\nIn this talk\, Gemma will share experiences and findings from her Ph
 D\, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)\, Trondhe
 im\, Norway.  The PhD was a part of an EU-funded project called “SENSE-GAR
 DEN”\, led by Professor Artur Serrano. This project developed multisensory
  spaces for people living with dementia and their families in Norway\, Bel
 gium\, Portugal\, and Romania. These spaces used personalised films\, musi
 c\, scents\, and imagery to deliver a tailored intervention within dementi
 a care settings.\nGemma’s PhD focused on the social\, relational\, and emo
 tional aspects of the SENSE-GARDEN intervention\, and used qualitative met
 hods to explore the use of technology in strengthening narrative identity 
 and promoting interpersonal relationships for people with dementia. During
  the PhD\, Gemma and her colleagues conducted a systematic literature revi
 ew and three qualitative studies which explored the perspectives and exper
 iences of potential users\, people with dementia\, family members and care
  professionals. The talk gives an overview of the SENSE-GARDEN project and

 iences\, Department of Mental Health\, NTNU. With a background as a musici
 an\, Gemma’s work has primarily focused on the use of music within dementi
 a care. After her Masters in Psychology of Music at Sheffield\, Gemma work
 ed at University of Nottingham as a Research Ambassador\, collaborating wi
 th The Arts and Dementia Doctoral Training Centre (TAnDem) and Created Out
  of Mind. She moved to Norway in 2017 for her PhD.\nHaving gained a perman
 ent position at NTNU in August 2022\, Gemma is now a collaborator on the r
 esearch project “Pathways to the world of work for students with disabilit
 ies in higher education”\, funded by the Research Council of Norway. Gemma
  teaches and supervises on the Social Education Bachelor’s Programme and M
 ental Health Master’s Programme at NTNU. Gemma’s interests include creativ
