DESCRIPTION:Event Information\nPresented by Dr. Thomas Wilcockson via Teams
\, Senior Lecturer of Psychology\, Loughborough University\nThom's researc
h focuses on utilising eye movement patterns as diagnostic markers for var
ious neurological conditions. His work is particularly focused on distingu
ishing between conditions like Alzheimer's disease\, mild cognitive impair
ment\, and head trauma\, which can present with cognitive decline. Thom wi
ll highlight how specific eye movement patterns can serve as sensitive bio
markers\, potentially predicting cognitive decline years in advance and of
fering high specificity for differentiating underlying pathologies. He wil
l also discuss the development of smartphone-based portable eye-tracking t
echnologies\, which aim to translate laboratory findings into accessible\,
real-world clinical applications. This approach promises to move beyond t
raditional assessments\, enabling earlier and more precise diagnoses to fa
cilitate timely interventions and improve patient outcomes.\nRegistration
