Lara's presentation will explore the concept of epistemic injustice in dementia care, referring to situations in which people with dementia may not be fully recognised as credible knowers of their own experiences. The study combines a scoping review of the literature with a qualitative study based on interviews with people living with dementia. It examines how epistemic injustice can shape communication, relationships, and involvement in care and everyday decisions, reflecting on the relevance of recognising the voices and perspectives of people with dementia in healthcare and social contexts.
