Studio House Choir

Studio House is a supportive living, peer-based, abstinence-based project, supporting individuals, from all over the UK, recovering from drug and alcohol dependence and who may also be living with mental health issues (dual diagnosis).
music

This project presents opportunities for people and communities to thrive by helping individuals create healthier choices in maintaining an abstinent lifestyle, improving their quality of life.
We are pioneering a peer working environment from residents to volunteers, from students to staff, to develop personally and professionally, where relationships and wellbeing really matters.

Aims:

  • To create a choir for anyone connected with Studio House who wants to join us. We recognise the therapeutic and social benefits of singing together and would like support in creating and leading such a choir;
  • To find a charismatic choir leader who is willing to host and lead us in weekly or fortnightly sessions;
  • To sing a range of music, chosen in consultation with choir members and to learn how to sing well as a group, with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment rather than musical proficiency;
  • To focus on enjoying singing and playing together, drawing out the talents of members and encouraging participation from everyone;
  • To perform for our friends, families and the public raising funds for Studio House through our singing.
  • To engage the support of specialists in IMH in sponsoring, supporting and joining the choir.
