University of Leeds

Amanda is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds.

Amanda began her career working in the third sector, and moved into the area of disability research as a research assistant at the Cambridge Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Group on a project looking at the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Her doctoral project explored the way that social workers supported individuals to make decisions in the context of adult safeguarding investigations, and she continues to think about the tensions in law and policy between increasing the control disabled people have over their lives, and State obligations to prevent exploitation, violence and abuse.

Amanda holds an LLB from King's College London, an MA from University College London and a PhD from the University of Nottingham.
