Brief biography

I am a Research Fellow with MindTech at the University of Nottingham, focusing on projects using digital mental health interventions to support young people with mental health challenges or who are neurodivergent. I am especially interested in how we can use young people’s involvement to improve the engagement and effectiveness of interventions, and how we can implement these interventions into practice in the most feasible and accessible way.

Research Study Brief Summary

My research began exploring how an app could support wellbeing in young people with Tourette Syndrome during my PhD. I continue research around Tourette Syndrome to understand how access to healthcare resources could be improved. This work is a collaboration, headed by Dr Maddie Groom, between academics and those with lived experience, third sector and health care professionals. I have recently been accepted onto a training programme with the Institute of Policy and Engagement to understand how this research could implemented into policy.  Outside of this field, I am involved in the Digital Youth project led by Prof Ellen Townsend and Prof Chris Hollis, a programme of work looking at understanding risk and developing interventions in the digital space for young people. My main projects include adapting the card sort task for self-harm (CaTS) and a feasibility and pilot randomised controlled trial of SPARX, a serious game for low mood.
