PAMI is a care home staff training tool for members of staff who have direct daily interactions with care home residents with dementia.

It provides staff members with musical skills and activities that are typically used by qualified music therapists. PAMI aims to improve staff-resident interactions and communications to ensure residents' needs are met. PAMI was initially developed as a music therapy skill-sharing study by a research team in Demark (Ridder, McDermott, Anderson-Ingstrup and Krøier) funded by the Velux Foundation.

PAMI-UK study, funded by the Music Therapy Charity PhD studentship, aims to adopt the original PAMI manual and develop a culturally appropriate and implementable training package for UK care homes. You can read an interim report here.
