"Social frailty and social isolation in people living with young-onset dementia" Presented by Ziyue Wang via Teams, PhD student of Nursing, University of Galway, Ireland.

Ziyue Wang is a fourth-year PhD student based in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Galway, Ireland, with supervision of Dr Duygu Sezgin and Dr Andrew Hunter. Her PhD research focuses on social health in people with young-onset dementia. In addition to her PhD project, Ziyue actively contributes to research on dementia care, dementia inequalities and frailty.

Ziyue will discuss the concepts of social frailty and social isolation in the context of dementia, and the interrelationship between both concepts. She will also talk about contributing factors to the lived experiences of social frailty and social isolation in people living with young-onset dementia, and their perceived support needs on social health. Exploring these factors can help to design recommendations to improve social health in people living with young-onset dementia, which can contribute to guiding development strategies for more inclusive dementia care for younger individuals living with dementia.
