Dr Ahmed Hankir MBChB MRCPsych is Public Engagement and Education Lead at the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, Disabilities and Human Rights, Institute of Mental Health in Nottingham.

He is Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health Research in association with Cambridge University, a mental health activist and NHS Psychiatrist. In his capacity as a ‘Wounded Healer’, Dr Hankir draws on both his personal and professional expertise to empower, dignify and humanize people with mental health conditions. Dr Hankir’s research interests include pioneering and evaluating innovative programmes that challenge mental health related stigma.
