Briony is a PhD candidate at the University of Nottingham, exploring human rights in international dementia care. She is currently working with the WHO to develop good practice guidance for community dementia services that will illustrate services that provide good recovery-oriented, person-centred, and rights-based care. 

Briony's main research interests are the human rights of people with mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities. She previously worked with the WHO for her master's dissertation which examined pre-training attitudes of stakeholders within the Ghanaian mental health system and general community as part of the WHO's QualityRights initiative - the results were published in BMC Psychiatry. As well as the Centre for Mental Health and Human Rights, she is also a member of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, Disabilities and Human Rights and the Centre for Dementia at the Institute of Mental Health.
