Dr Briley is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow. He has a PhD in Psychology and a BMBS in Medicine from the University of Nottingham.

Dr Briley studies fundamental brain mechanisms underlying psychosis using brain imaging methods such as electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

He also works on the BRIGhTMIND trial of TMS brain stimulation for treatment-resistant depression and is developing approaches for personalising TMS therapy by aligning stimulation to the natural rhythms of the brain measured with EEG.
