Our second annual summer symposium was held on 14 July 2022 at the University of Nottingham Djanogly Arts Centre. The focus for this year's event was treatment-resistant schizophrenia (TRS) in forensic settings.

TRS can have a dramatic impact on the quality of our patient’s lives. Clinicians’ roles in management are challenging in any environment, and can be especially so in forensic settings, due to a complex interplay of comorbid conditions, risk considerations and criminal justice involvement. We heard updates from UK researchers on the neuroscientific and clinical understanding of TRS, administration of NG and IM clozapine in challenging scenarios, and discussed a local initiative to streamline clozapine prescribing in prisons.

The event was followed by a drinks and canapes reception, giving delegates a welcome opportunity to network with peers.
