NEON (Narrative Experience Online) was a research study, whose main body of work was between 2017 to 2023. We were funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research to examine whether online access to people’s real-life stories of recovery from mental health problems can be helpful affected by mental health problems.

All of our findings are freely available to the public here

Throughout the study, NEON worked with a lived experience advisory panel of ten public members, many of whom contributed to the research papers that we produced.

Now that our study has finished, we’ve wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to learn about our work, and so we’ve produced a summary. You can download it here for free below. As well as the main findings of our study, we’ve included accounts from researchers and panel members of what it has felt like to work on our study, and what we’ve learnt in the process.
